Rescue Story: We had just lost one of our cats and we were down to one kitty in the house, who had previously done well with dogs. There was a huge hole and I (Jes) made the wonderful decision to go on petfinder and Oscar popped up. It was love when we first met him. He lived with a wonderful foster family. When he came for the home inspection, he jumped up on the couch and went to sleep. He was home!

Oscar always loved playing with female pit bulls at the dog park. We decided to find him a sister and spent considerable time looking. We drove to Athens, GA to meet one and they didn't click. Then Debbie from Lifeline Animal Project said that she had just pulled a little girl from DeKalb Animal Control. They met and it was love. They wrestled and wrestled. Oscar was so happy! Sula was wild and has kept us on our toes since.

What is your favorite pastime as a family? The dogs don't sleep with us in the bed (cat zone), so we try to make it to the mountains each year where we hike all day and snuggle. We make sure to rent a cabin with a king bed so we can all snuggle.

What is life like since you rescued Oscar & Sula? Life is amazing since we adopted Oscar. He seems pretty happy with where he landed. Sula has taught me so much about dog behavior and enrichment. She is always in "go-mode". When she snuggles, you know you've earned it. She seems happy with us, though would probably request more swim time!

Photographers Note: I know this site is all about the dogs, but first I have to comment on Jes and Donna's adorable son Felix. He was such a good sport during the photo shoot and I could have taken photos of just him for days...so cute. Ok, now back to the dogs...Oscar and Sula were just the sweetest pups and they have this fantastic park just down the street from their house. Sula was all about wanting to play in the creek and we had to give her a little time to do that before she was ready to be "on" for her photo shoot! The two of them were so different, Oscar very chill and Sula very alert and ready for her next command. Jes and Donna do have another pit bull named Javier, who they decided not to feature at this time, as he has some anxiety issues. Hopefully as they continue to work with him, we can circle back and tell his story so his sibs don't get all the glory!

I truly enjoyed meeting this wonderful family. I knew we were kindred spirits when we were talking about winning the lottery (at the time of the photo shoot, there was a good size jackpot) and we all agreed the first thing we would do with the money would be to build new facilities for Lifeline Animal Projects shelters!
