What makes Mini unique? She really does not like water, as in she won't swim and really hates being out in the rain. But when I tell her it's time for a bath, she follows me upstairs and jumps right in the tub and loves it. Giving her a bath was the first thing I did as soon as I brought her home from the pound so I think she associates it with freedom and comfort.
Another great thing is I can leave food (human food or dog food) out and she doesn't touch it. I keep her treats within easy reach and she's never once even attempted to get them.
Lounging Mini!
Rescue Story: At the time, I was living with my ex-boyfriend and he had a rescue pittie. We wanted another so he could have a playmate (definitely a female and she needed to be on the smaller side). I was scouring websites and as soon as I saw Mini, I knew she was "the one" for me. She was at DeKalb Animal Shelter - I called right away to discuss next steps. I went on my own to meet her and then I brought the other dog back the next day for a meet & greet. Everything worked out so I brought her home and the rest is history.
Gotcha Day!
What is your favorite pastime as a family? Trail running/hiking in the mountains. She is very agile and athletic.
What is life like since you adopted Mini? My life revolves around her (some friends and family say to a fault). But she's very quirky and set in her ways; my priority is to make her feel safe and comfy. So....my social life has certainly taken a blow as have my days of traveling because I don't like to leave her for long periods of time. I've also learned a great deal about patience and selflessness - it's no longer just about me anymore. Most importantly , I feel so happy and blessed to have such a loving soul in my life who offers unconditional love. She makes me laugh, helps me enjoy the good times and she is also by my side to help me through the trials and tribulations.
Photographers Note: It was so fun meeting spunky little Mini. We used Stacy's next door neighbors beautiful backyard for the shoot (and hello talk about fantastic lighting). She ran right over there like she owned the place and as it turns out, her neighbor Gary is her BFF. She was such a good girl and very photogenic, she also had the side eye expression mastered. This was another shoot that took maybe 20 minutes, if that. It was like she was meant to be a model!
