What makes Luna & Tom unique? Luna thinks that she’s a small dog-She crawls into laps and tries to stand on the back of the couch. While Tom is 100% purebred American Staffordshire Terrier, which is rare to find in a rescue.
Rescue Stories: Luna’s life before rescue is a mystery. She was in a shelter in Fort Worth Texas, and was tagged by Waggin’ Tails Canine Rescue. I adopted her when she was 5 months old.
Tom was owner surrendered to the BARC shelter in Houston, Texas. He was tagged by Animal Rescue of the Rockies and we fostered him. He was extremely timid and didn’t trust humans. We wanted to work with him to help him get over his fears and be more adoptable. After all, who would want a puppy that is so afraid of everything? After 2 months, we decided to adopt him.
What is life like since you adopted Luna & Tom? We adopted Luna to be a companion for our other dog Peanut (who later died of Distemper). Since adopting Luna, our life has been fun and crazy. Luna keeps us on our toes and makes us laugh. She also is a snuggle bug, and knows how to comfort us when we have had a bad day. She is an amazing dog and we are so lucky to have her in our lives.
Since adopting Tom, life has been interesting. The first few months were hard because we couldn’t take him anywhere. Now he is learning that life can be safe and fun. We truly believe that Tom was meant to stay in our home.
Photographers Note: After finishing up my previous photo shoot, which just happened to be at Christie's Mom and Dad's house (Sydney, the previous posted story), I headed over to Christie and Bryan's house. Christie gave me the heads up that Tom was a little shy and to give him his space. We went out in the backyard to let him play with Luna and run around a bit. Luna was feeling a little under the weather so her play time was short. So I started the fake move play with Tom and he would zoom around the yard after each move. Before you know it, I would be talking to Christie and feel a little "boop" on my hand or my leg from Tom. Not sure if he was tagging me as if to say "you're it" or letting me know that he was starting to trust me a little. Both pups are just beautiful, with Luna's amber eyes (which I had to highlight in her individual picture) and Tom's stunning markings...they were fun to photograph. I mean that individual picture of Tom above, may be one of my favorite captures. You see how his ears normally look, so to catch him when both ears are standing straight up like that....Lucky stuff right there! What I love about this Mother/Daughter team, is their friendly competition around number of fosters they have brought in and found forever homes for. The numbers are pretty impressive for just two people and almost as impressive as these two women. Keep it up ladies, you are saving so many lives and completing so many families!
