Rescue Stories: Charlie was my 1st Friends of the Forlorn foster.
A woman found Charlie and her daughter wandering a highway. They were both almost hairless with mange; she took them to a vet them reached out to FTTF for help. They came to live at my work until a foster/forever home was found. I immediately fell for Charlie and wanted her. My husband vetoed the idea. rightly so we had an eldery shepard. Charlie recovered from her mange and was adopted. I cried happy tears. A few months later I received a call saying that Charlie was being returned and had no where to go..Our shepard had passed so my husband reluctantly agreed to foster and only foster Charlie. Tony slept with one eye open that 1st night as Charlie slept by his head. He had fallen victim to the media hype. It was after only a few days that he said she was staying.
Charlie is an ambassador for pitbulls everywhere.. She goes anywhere she can with us. She loves to socialize with people..She is my sidekick. Stood at my side when we renewed our vows.,my buddy, our 1st pit bull.
Mio was under rabies quarantine at the pound at 11 weeks old.. When his quarantine was up his family never came for him. Labeled a bite dog Mio could not be adopted out to the public. It was rescue or.... Even though we had just taken in a broken Fé a month before how could we say no to that??
Even though Mio was an adoptable dog, we decided after 2 years to foster fail with him. Since not only had we fallen for him, his harder to adopt best friend Fé & he had formed such a bond we couldn’t break them up.. foster fail 3&4!
What a difference a loving home makes.
Sweet puppy Mio, enjoying his forever lap!
What is your favorite pastime as a family? Charlie and I frequent a local waterfall. It is our happy place. She loves hanging in the water. We are working hard on Mio’s leash manners and would love to have him be our go everywhere guy as Charlie is getting older and cannot do some of the more adventurous adventures.
What is life like since you rescued Charlie & Mio? Life has been a wild ride since the addition of Charlie. She showed us how amazing these guys are. We have continued to foster/volunteer for FTTF which has brought us closer together.
Mio,Fé,and Austin are foster fails also Track is an FTTF dog also..13 have come and gone..
Because of Charlie we have a house full of pits, 4 rotations but we would not have it any other way....All are alive, happy and healthy
Add to the entertainment factor with Mio!
Photographers Note: As you read above Pam & Tony have a lot of dogs and this requires some logistics to keep the peace in the house. Their dedication to all of their pups is truly inspiring and heart warming because they “make it work” every day, where others would deem it to be too difficult. So when it came time to select which dogs she wanted to feature she chose Charlie & Mio. They aren’t the best of friends so we did their sessions separately. Charlie at her favorite waterfall (which due to the lack of rain in our area was minus the water) & Mio back at their house.
Charlie is the cutest little low rider & for this reason I was ok photographing her with that jersey on; being an Atlanta Falcons fan and all! Her snorts and those sweet soulful eyes just make you smile immediately. Mio is just a handsome boy with a lot of energy. The day had gotten so warm and he was just not at all interested in posing for me. He wanted to see what was happening in his neighborhood instead. After some coaxing I was able to capture his silly personality mixed with those good looks.
