What makes Legion & Malak unique? Legion has a good heart. If a dog can have compassion, Legion has it. He is also a leg-licker (unique quality, lol), and he "smiles" when he's excited - especially when his dad gets home from work.
If there were a dog competition for snuggling, Malak would take the Gold! He's super loving and super gentle (even though he can play soooo rough with Legion). He can also scale a 6 foot privacy fence...but that's a story for another time. ;)
Stunning boy that is Legion
Sweet Boy Malak!
Rescue Stories: Legion, along with his siblings and mother, were seized from a dog-fighter. (Guy is in prison with 5 counts of dog fighting!) His mother was used for breeding purposes. (His Mother was also a past volunteer for Shine A Light, http://www.shineliteatl.com/new-blog-1/2018/11/11/mitts-102118) The rescue got them, I saw his sweet little picture and the rest is history.
Puppy Legion
Malak was in Animal Control two separate times for quite a while. He had people in there fighting for him. We happened to see that adoptions were free and we saw his picture - we "just went in to look," hahaha! He's been our love ever since!
Malak in his final forever home!
What is your favorite pastime as a family? Snuggling & hiking
What is life like since you rescued Legion & Malak? Legion has been right at home ever since he moved in. He's such a social dog and always loved going to the dog park (until his CCLs were torn - he just had bilateral surgery to fix that...what a story that is!).
From the moment we brought Malak home, him and Legion have been best friends. They snuggle together soooo much and play so hard. It's like they were best friends always. It did take him a little adjustment, as with any shelter dog, but he knew he had a place on the bed from day one. Our dogs now sleep with the children at night. I never have to worry about them. ;)
Photographers Note: Tiffany, Kevin & family were my last volunteers for the Savannah trip. Unfortunately the lovely weather we had in the morning had completely gone by the time I was to meet them in the afternoon. We are talking Tropical Storm kind of rain amounts and every time we thought we saw a break in the radar, it disappeared just as fast. So Tiffany suggested we meet up under the Cotton Exchange on River Street which is covered. So this family tromped through the pouring down rain decked out in rain jackets and umbrellas to meet up with me. The dogs of course seemed to be phased not at all. They just went a long with the flow and maybe here and there get distracted by the occasional bird or tourist that was also seeking shelter from the rain. I mean how gorgeous are these two pibbles….so handsome. Legion has almost an Eeyore quality about him; quiet and sweet, with those soulful eyes. Malak was a little more excited for the adventure and what was going to happen next. I was so appreciative that these folks were flexible and didn’t let the rain scare them off, so they could tell their sweet pups stories. The things that we will do to help change perceptions! :)
