What makes Tybee unique? She thinks everyone in the neighborhood has a treat for her. She sits for random strangers in hopes they’ll pull out a snack. She is obsessed with the Jimmy Carter Farmer’s market. When we go, she goes straight under the tables in hopes of finding a radish or tomato. A vendor gave her a peach once. She thought it was a ball at first. Then she figured it out…
Looks: Her spots – she has a brown patch over one eye so the eyelashes on one eye are brown and on one are white. She’s also a little cross eyed and has the biggest ears ever!
Rescue Story: A neighbor found Tybee on the street and brought her to my husband’s house thinking she was Ben’s roommate’s big white bully. It wasn’t, but the neighbor left, and Tybee fell in love with Ben instantly. He let her sleep in his bed that night and woke up covered in flea bites!
He took her to get scanned for a chip. She had one but the phone number was out of service. So, he hung signs in the neighborhood and put her picture on Nextdoor, etc. No luck, so he kept her! Then, six months later, he was walking her and a guy drove up. He said, “Hey, that’s my dog.” Ben was ready to go to battle, but then the guy just said, “…But you can keep her.” He did tell us that they had actually found her as a stray as well, but she ran away from them. Now we keep her on a very tight leash!
What is your favorite pastime as a family? Hiking! She hates rain, showers, pools, etc., but she loves to splash in the streams when we go hiking!
What is life like since you rescued Tybee? For her: She’s discovered a love of puzzle toys, farmer’s markets, over-zealous face kisses, and the hosts at the neighborhood restaurants.
For us: we are house-hunting right now. We are literally those people who will only consider houses with 1) a room big enough for king-sized bed because Tybee’s a bed hog and 2) a yard that she will like.

Photographers Note: I met up with Valerie, Ben & Tybee at a lovely park which is down in a ravine. Very shaded and greenery everywhere., perfect for a hot July day. It was like Tybee was exploring in a jungle! Tybee wasn’t all that interested in me (I tried not to take it personally because I just wanted to love on her so much), she wanted to sniff/explore. When the treats came out, then it was game on. This girl is a master poser, I would take about 20-30 shots of the same pose and about 95% of them were exactly the same. (this is also why she didn’t have a lot of outtakes to post before her story). One of the first things I noticed about this happy girl was her eyes. Yes they are slightly crossed which is adorable, it wasn’t that. It was the color. A beautiful very pale yellow. You would normally see that color in a cat but not very often in dogs, at least the ones I have photographed. You add that with the ears and her perfect pittie smile, this girl needs to be in advertising. Just think of all the treats she could buy with all that ad money! :)
