What makes Oxy G. unique? He loves to lie down directly on his belly with his legs "froggy style". When he is hot after walks, he sometimes has to plop down on his belly right in the garage on the concrete floor before we can even get him in the house.
Oxy G. doin "Froggy - Style"
Rescue Story: Oxy G was an owner surrender to the Fulton County Animal Services shelter. The owner stated that Oxy G. was basically left in a room by himself and they didn't have money to take care of him.
He had been at the shelter for about a month before they were running out of room. He was starting to get stressed out and had to be fed separately. He was shared on Facebook as an Urgent Case and a friend of ours urged us to foster him. We had lost our male Belgian Malinois mix in the fall and really missed having another dog in the house.
The day he came home, it was cold and rainy and Jenn was there to introduce him to Sadie. Once we had a "getting to know you" walk, he curled up at Jenn's feet and fell fast asleep. After he noticed the fireplace that evening, he curled up in a tiny ball next to it and dozed and dozed. He was so relieved to be out of the shelter and in a calm environment.
He was such a good boy and tried so hard to learn his new routine, we just had to keep him!
Gotcha Day
What is your favorite pastime as a family? He loves playing catch or other games with "his kids" He adores going for walks and does a cute "let's go on a walk" howl as soon as he's done eating and goes directly to the door where his leash is.
What is life like since you rescued Oxy G.? We have had senior dogs for quite awhile now so it was an adjustment to keep up with an active "toddler" dog with loads of excitement. Oxy G. is a great combination of high energy and chillness. We have been taking him to the kids sporting events and outdoor patios to get him a little more socialized. There's always a reason to go for a walk, which is great for all of us.
As far as Oxy G., we think his snoring as he drapes himself across one of us while watching TV together, is a pretty good sign that he is content with his forever family.
Photographers Note: My first question when I walked in the door was about his name. Definitely unique and apparently is made up of two last names of two favorite soccer players in the house. You might be able to see that Reggie and Mick are both wearing their favorite teams soccer jerseys in the photo above. Once we got that out of the way, it was down to business. Oxy G. is such a sweet boy and very well trained. His bowtie shot was just me, him and some treats. He would move his head ever so slightly with a small movement of the treat, even with the family doing other things in the yard and Sadie walking about sniffing. He was so focused and in the true pit bull manner, just wanted to please. You can tell this is an active family and Oxy G fits in perfectly. He is one happy guy and is so loved! It was so much fun photographing this beautiful family!
