What makes NouNou unique? She taught herself to communicate with us. If we are at the dog park, she'll let us know when she is ready to go. I can also tell when she is not in the mood for a long walk because she'll look me dead in the eyes once we walk out of our apartment gate and yawn loudly.
Rescue Story: My boyfriend was outside working on his car and I went outside to talk to him. My neighbor had this black and white puppy that ran right up to me when they opened their door. I asked if she belonged to them, and they said no that they found her. They said they were going to try and find her owners. I played with her for a couple hours and she even came into my apartment. I tried to call her to come back outside so that I could take her back to my neighbor, she refused and I had to carry her. When I gave her back, I told them that if they cannot find the owner, I will take her. A few hours later, they came to the door and said they could not find the owner and asked if I would take her.
I've never lived with pets , so shortly after taking her I realized I was experiencing allergy symptoms. With the help of a friend , I was able to find a couple that was willing to take her into their home. Although they knew that I would want her back if I wasn't allergic; they were understanding and took her in. Thankfully she was not the major cause for my allergies , and she has been with us ever since!
At some point, I did run into her former owner while walking her. She said that she got rid of NouNou because she was not housebroken and that NouNou's brother somehow got away. NouNou was about 4-5 months when I got her and she was housebroken within a couple weeks.
Settling in...
What is your favorite pastime as a family? We LOVE taking NouNou to the dog park to play fetch. She loves nothing more then chasing tennis balls.
What is life like since you rescued NouNou? Life for her I am sure has been great. She is extremely spoiled and has been on many adventures with us. We started hiking and she's been on a road trip to Boston. For me it's been a blessing, she has shown me how to have patience and unconditional love. A year ago we adopted another puppy and seeing the bond between them grow has been amazing. I feel so luck to be the one that she chose.
Photographers Note: NouNou came out to meet me and she is just too cute. She has this stocky pitty shaped body and this little head. Her markings are just beautiful and the deepest darkest eyes that are really hard to capture in a photograph. During the bow tie photo, you really got the sense she knew she was "dressed up" and posing for something big. She is also quite the lucky pup, as she lives in a huge complex with great grounds and it's own dog park (with the cool blue hydrant). At the time we were the only ones in there and had the run of the place to capture some shots of this sweet girl!
