Rescue Stories: I found Rogue on the side of the road shortly after moving to Atlanta. I had no experience with pit bulls and at the time just had a Miniature Pinscher. I fell in love with her and my eyes were opened to the world of pit bull rescue. From there I felt the need to begin
volunteering wherever possible with pit bulls.
Waffles was adopted from Friends to the Forlorn. I had started volunteering with them and this one little blue and white puppy stole my heart. I fostered her for two weeks and then signed the adoption papers to make her part of the family.
Chicken Wing was surrender to the shelter where I work. (Atlanta Humane Society) I
immediately fell in love. At the time I wasn't sure I was ready to take on a 4th dog. Then someone came into the shelter and asked for a discount on him; from there i knew he had to be mine. I officially adopted him that day. He fit into the pack perfectly and
they all became immediate best friends.
What is your favorite pastime as a family? Hiking, trail walks & snuggling.
What is life like since you adopted these pups? My life since I began rescuing has changed so much! I changed my entire career in order to work in animal welfare.
Photographers Note: This photo shoot was so much fun because it was just after a pretty significant snow fall in the Metro Atlanta area and that doesn't happen very often. On top of that Wes & Daphne live near this beautiful trail that provided such an amazing backdrop to their family photo. Once we moved back to their yard, I got a lot of blurry photos of the pups racing around in the snow, just having the best time. There was also the small problem of Mr. Chicken Wing's addiction to the white stuff....so a lot of photos of him nose buried and eating away at the biggest snow cone he has ever seen! All in all it was a pretty successful session and I heard back from Daphne afterwards that all 3 were wiped out after I left. An hour of posing and 5 inches of snow will do that to a pup!
