Rescue Story: Kaiser was part of a litter of puppies that the local Humane Society had brought up from Southwestern Colorado. The dogs were from a reservation there and were in poor shape. He had ear mites, kennel cough and worms when they got him. My wife Elise happened to see them at a local outdoor mall, and despite the fact that she never wanted a dog, Kaiser won her over. She texted me a picture and by the time I got there, he was the only pup left. Another couple tried to adopt him, but lived in an apartment, so he came home with us.

What is your favorite pastime as a family? Hiking, snowshoeing & cross country skiing. I try to bike with him, but he likes to get in front of me and stop.
What is life like since you rescued Kaiser? He has woven himself into the fabric of our family – and to us is just another one of the kids. He loves his brother and sister and is very content.
Photographers Note: The first official Colorado volunteer. Kaiser is just as sweet as can be but on this day he wasn't really feeling the model vibe! Was happy to dole out love and kisses, but when it came to performing for the camera, not so such! Throw a toy and 8 x out of 10, he watched it fall. Andrew thought he might be a little grumpy because he hadn't had one of his long walks. In chatting with Andrew about where Kaiser came from, he spoke about the challenges of controlling the dog population on many of the reservations in the area and how most of those dogs have at least 25% pit in them, Kaiser included.
Unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts the rest of the family was not available for the family shot. However, once Eva came out and sat next to Kaiser, he just lit up. There is definitely a special bond between those two.
