Rescue Story: Sophie came into our lives from a Fulton County Animal Shelter adoption event at PetSmart. Her fur-mommy had been rescued very pregnant with her litter mates and were swept away to a loving foster home where Sophie was born and raised until she was about 7 weeks old. Her birth date is 12/21/2014. Luckily, her first Christmas was spent snuggled up with her fur-mommy and litter mates warm, fed, loved and dry. She was one of the fortunate ones that has not and will not ever know the cold reality of an animal shelter.

On the day we adopted her, it started as a quick trip to PetSmart to grab cat litter and cat food. She was one of just a couple pups left from her litter. She was the cutest puppy you have ever seen!! Her beautiful blue eyes looked up to you longingly to be snuggled. We snuggled her and loved on her for a few minutes and laughed about adopting her. We put her back in with her remaining brother and did our shopping. To our surprise, she was still there when we came out. Mommy held her one more time and that was it. She was coming home to be a Benjamin!!

Little tiny puppy, Sophie Grace!

What is your favorite pastime as a family? One of our favorite past times with our dog is sleeping in, especially when it’s cold outside. Sophie will stay under the covers right in the middle of us snuggling and keeping us warm until we decide to get up. There is no better life than the one we have with her!!

What is life like since you rescued Sophie Grace? For us: life is more family like. We adopted her as a baby and treated her like one. She brings us so much joy and happiness and life just would not be the same without her.

For her: life has been full of adventure and learning. She gets to travel and meet new people. She gets to play and run and enjoy being the amazing happy pibble that she is.

Photographers Note: Met with Brandon, Meghan and Sophie at Piedmont Park on a pretty day. Sophie was so excited to be there and smell all the new smells. When her parents would throw her ball and sticks for her, she repeatedly ran back off to the side of where they and I were, as if to say….lady with the camera you need to work a little harder to capture me! No worries, there were still plenty of opportunities to capture her beautiful face, with those amazing light blue eyes and her unique coloring. She really was just the sweetest (I know I say that about all of our volunteers, but that should tell you something about these amazing dogs)!
