What makes Roxanne & Rosie unique? Roxanne the Ham: Even though she’s wild, she can sense when you’re not feeling good, physically or mentally, and will not leave your side and protect you. When Roxanne was a puppy, she would purposely knock her full bowl of water over or drag it across the floor. At the time, it was annoying and we are glad she grew out of that weird quirk.
Rosie Posie: She is an angel sent from heaven. She exudes love. She is the sweetest dog I have ever met and I am a credible source when I make that statement because I have been around hundreds of dogs in my time volunteering at DCAS.

Rescue Story: : Toye adopted Roxanne from DeKalb County Animal Services (DCAS) in August 2016. She was about 5 months old and was found as a stray by herself.
I volunteer at DCAS and intended for Rosie to just stay with us for the weekend, so she could get a short break from the shelter. Then the weekend turned into a week. Then we said we would foster her until she found a furever home. Then I stopped posting her on social media as adoptable and took down my old posts of her. I signed her adoption papers last month. She was found as a stray in January 2018. She came home with me on June 9th, 2018.

What is your favorite pastime as a family? There’s a school down the street from us that is only used as a set for TV or movies. There’s a huge soccer field behind it. We take the pups up there and watching them run their hearts out and play nonstop is the best. Also, simply cuddling with them on the couch and running down the hallway and jumping in bed with them is funny.
What is life like since you rescued Roxanne & Rosie? Roxanne the Ham is pure entertainment. Her antics are so silly, and she boggles our minds with what goes through that head of hers. Then we got Rosie Posie and they instantly became best friends. Rosie is the puzzle piece that we never knew was missing. She makes our little family complete. Her calm sweet demeanor is the yin to Roxanne’s fiery party animal yang. I can’t imagine what life would be like without them. I know that it would be extremely boring and there would be a lot less smiles and laughs. They bring so much happiness and joy to our lives.
Photographers Note: I met with up with Denise and the girls at the soccer field she mentions above. Of course here in Atlanta it had been raining for what seemed like forever and this was our first sunny weekend day in some time. You can probably guess what that meant for the field….yep pretty soggy. Not a problem from Roxanne with her black coat, but Rosie’s under carriage got pretty muddy pretty fast. Of course they didn’t care, they just raced around this huge field and had a blast, running back to check in with Denise and I every once and awhile. Capturing dogs at a full sprint can be challenging but when it works out, the look of joy on their faces is priceless. As we ended our time together, they walked me back to the car and as Denise was walking away with the girls, they both kept looking back at me and stopping; as if they wanted me to come with them. Just the sweetest girls and I had a blast with them too! :)
