What makes Bradford unique? He really seems to be in tune with the emotional environment around him. He always seems to know exactly what you want from him even without a command being given. At both my current and previous workplace, he was everyone’s favorite office dog. He makes everyone’s day because he’s always stoked to see all his friends and leans against them for proper petting.
Cuteness with a side of spaghetti & meatballs!
Rescue Story: I was a volunteer at a shelter in Chattanooga, TN when I bought a house and decided that I should begin fostering. I walked through the shelter to pick a pup for foster, and saw B. He was looking at me over his shoulder leaned against the kennel door, and I began to pet his velvety chest. He just laid there and let me rub him- leaning harder on me as time went on. I found out that he was considered an “at risk” dog because he had been adopted and returned a few times, and he was terribly fearful of men.
I took him home later that week, and he instantly became my best friend. He bonded with me extremely quickly and began to trust the men around me as well. We worked on his anxieties for several months while he was still my foster dog, and then the day came… B had a potential adopter. As soon as I was faced with the reality that I might have to give him up, I knew I couldn’t. I went to the shelter the very next day and completed the adoption.
Soon after, I left my corporate management job and took a position with the shelter that brought B and I together. Now four years later, I’m still working in Animal Welfare and B is still my best friend. He’s a great dad/mentor to all the foster pups I bring home, and he helps them gain confidence and learn how to “dog”. Recently, he was diagnosed with cancer (MCT) and underwent surgery and radiation- he’s now cancer free!
When Bradford met his forever Mom!
What is your favorite pastime as a family? Because of Bradford’s previous knee injury, we spend a lot of time on the couch watching TV together. He loves coming to work with me and spreading happiness throughout the office, and going out to eat at dog-friendly restaurants where his begging is often rewarded with yummy snacks.
What is life like since you rescued Bradford? B gives me a sense of belonging and family that I didn’t have before I rescued him. He is my best friend, and I think I’m his too 😊 I moved to Atlanta by myself, and he’s been a constant source of companionship, friendship, and love since the day I brought him home.
Photographers Notes: I met up with Amanda and Bradford in a park near their house. Since Atlanta had been having all kinds of rain, it of course was pretty wet and Bradford made quick time in getting his under belly pretty muddy! Upon meeting them Amanda mentioned that Bradford really likes to get dressed up and she had brought a long some of his favorite outfits. So in true model fashion we had some wardrobe changes during the shoot! Bradford is just the sweetest boy and I immediately got to experience his lean in move while I was petting him! Amanda mentioned that because Bradford is such a good poser, he is often used as a model for her at work as well. So clearly this beautiful boy knows how to work his good looks!
