  6. Stomps her paw and grumbles when she is pouting

What makes Koda unique? When hanging at home with her people, Koda figures “when in Rome” and sits like a human on the couch! LOL

Beautiful girl!

Rescue Story: I had been considering fostering a dog for a long time, and finally decided to go meet some pups at LifeLine Animal Project in Avondale. I met so many sweet dogs that day, but noticed one in particular that was so calm and quiet while everyone else was barking and twirling around. I went to her kennel and when I knelt down in front of her, Koda pressed the side of her face into the wire. I put my face up against hers and we just sat like that for a minute. Done. She’s my “foster fail” LOL. I don’t know why I thought I’d only be able to spend a few months with her. I’ve fallen in love and she’s not going anywhere!

I don’t have a ton of info about her history, other than she was an owner surrender. Someone loved her...she knows basic commands, some fun tricks, and had already been spayed and microchipped prior to her intake at the shelter. I hate that she had to be separated from her original family, but I am so grateful that I’ve met her and have the opportunity to give her a home and love on her for the rest of her life.

Hello Forever Family!

What is your favorite pastime as a family? Koda loves wading in water, so we like to go to Avondale Lake and Sweetwater Creek. She’s got super sensitive skin, though, so these days always end with a foot bath. We bond while I use a washcloth to dry in between her toesies :p

What is life like since you rescued Koda? I love life with Koda!! There is so much laughter in my home since she’s joined us! She gives me something to look forward to! I love waking up with her face in mine, and can’t wait to get home from work to cuddle. I can only hope that I’m bringing her the same happiness and fullness. She seems happy :) And if you can measure a dog’s happiness in kisses, we’re doing ok LOL.

Photographers Note: This happy girl is just the most beautiful color. Photographs just don’t do it justice, almost the color of a beautiful mink coat (not real mink of course). At one point, Melanie was trying to get her to lay down and that resulted in her mastered roll over trick, all in one motion. As if to say, oh I can do more then lay down lady, just you watch! It was comical because she did it more then once. Such a show off! :) It’s never easy to learn that your new family member was a surrender from another family, you wonder what happened, why did they have to get ride of her. Especially when i clear they loved her and trained her. All you can do is look forward and know she will live out her life with her new forever family and there is unlimited love and happiness there.
