What makes Bo & Luke unique? Bo is 84lbs. However, he has no idea he is big. He gets a little scared of little dogs sometimes and runs away. Sometimes tiny doggies can be really scary when they bark a lot. Bo is a big Teddy Bear. If we are walking and someone is scared of him, he can sense it. He will roll over and show his belly. However, sometimes his lip will accidentally fall and his teeth will be exposed. Bo’s mama thinks his teefies are cute and his smile is adorable. Sometimes people get more scared when they see his teeth. Bo patiently waits for their belly rubs. Sometimes his feelings get hurt, but he still smiles and keeps going. One of Bo’s best friend is my 2 year old niece Layla. He likes her mostly because she drops more food than she puts in her mouth. Bo thinks that this is the best quality in a best friend.
Luke Loves to watch TV. We had to stop watching the Pit Bull rescue show because it made him too sad. Luke loves to watch happy shows like Greys Anatomy and The Bachelor. Luke is hoping they have a doggie version of the Bachelor show some day. Luke would love to be the Doggie Bachelor. Luke does well with the lady doggies. Luke is very kind and affectionate. He stares at his mom and gently licks her chin regularly. People are always scared of Luke because someone chopped his ears. But they have no idea that he is one of the kindest doggies that god ever made. Anyone that gets to know Luke, loves him. When he has to get a shot, he licks his vet. When someone says something mean or are unkind to him, he shows them love. Luke was abused in his last home, but it doesn’t stop him from having the biggest doggie heart!!!! Luke is the definition of unconditional Love. He evens loves children and is gentle with little ones. He makes sure to give the little ones extra gentle kisses.
Bo with his sweet stoic expression.
Luke thinks there is nothing better then destroying this football!
Rescue Stories: Bo came from Fulton County Animal Services. A friend of mine had shared Bo’s story on FB. Bo was urgent. He had heart worms and was a little too sensitive for Shelter life. He got his feelings hurt a lot in the Shelter. He had scars & staples in his head from his previous life. Someone was very mean to Bo. I wasn’t looking for a dog and had never had one. I went to just “see him” and fell in love at first sight. Bo has a big huge doggie smile that I just couldn’t resist. Bo cried very softly all the way home because he was scared. When he got home, he walked the whole house. Bo found a little corner and went to sleep. Bo slept and slept and slept for 10 hours. Bo changed my life. I never knew how amazing pit bulls were. Bo taught me about unconditional love. I felt so lucky to have gotten such an amazing dog. I wondered if all Pit Bulls were this sweet or if I had just gotten lucky?
The happiest intake photo!
About one year after I got Bo, I decided that my townhouse wasn’t good enough. I wanted Bo to have his own backyard to run and play. So I decided to build a new house. It was almost Christmas time and all Bo wanted for Christmas was a brother! Again, I saw someone share an urgent dog on FB. His Shelter name was Snoop Dog. I went to Cobb County Shelter. Luke was sick. He was so skinny that you could see all his ribs and spine. He also had burn scars. Someone was not very nice to him. Luke was sitting in that cage with his head drooped down like he had given up. Luke came out of his cage and mustered just enough energy to lick my chin! It was all over, he was going home with his new mama and brother! It didn’t take long before he was healthy and happy! I cant even begin to tell you how amazing Luke is! He came perfectly trained. He has never had one accident In the house l He is the model dog! Now I know, it wasn’t just that Bo was an amazing dog, the Breed is AMAZING!!!!! I really encourage anyone that is thinking about getting a dog to consider a rescue pittie. My two were thrown way and abused by someone else. But with a little bit of love they blossomed into AMAZING companions for me. They both came already trained. They appreciate your love so much more. You save them and they save you. My Bo and Luke most definitely have given me back a million times more happiness than I could have ever given them. They are the best decisions of my life!
What is your favorite pastime as a family? Luke, Bo and I like to go for car rides. We like to roll the windows down and cruise. We sometimes just cruise around and visit friends , so they can feel the breeze blowing in their hair! LOL
What is life like since you rescued Bo & Luke? Bo and Luke are the best decision that I’ve ever made. They complete my life. I thank god every day for bringing these sweet babies to me. They needed my help to get healthy. But there isn’t a moment that passes with them that I cant help but smile. They are loving, kind & silly. They make me laugh daily. I had no idea the love I was missing before I got these boys! It hurts every day to think that people judge the breed without truly knowing them. Bo and Luke have changed so many opinions. To know them is to love them. I’m gonna keep dressing them in silly clothes and letting them spread the love with their kindness. We hope one day, people realize just how awesome Pitties are.
Photographers Note: I mean just look at these two. They are just so sweet and adorable. Each with their own personality. Bo is definitely the more reserved of the two, his facial expression reminded me of Eeyore. He was not a huge fan of getting his photo taken but definitely came alive when he was playing in the yard with his brother. Thankfully he didn’t hold the camera against me and still was good with getting some attention from me! Now Luke, as Krisie mentioned people may be intimidated by this big boy due to his looks, but man what a love bug. He just wanted to show off and get affection. When Krisie reached out she had gotten some upsetting news about Luke’s health so wanted to be sure he could be part of Shine a Light in time as a perfect example of the kind of dog that will change peoples perceptions. By the time, I showed up at Krisie’s house, she had gotten a second opinion and a completely different and FAR better diagnosis, which was amazing to hear. Now both boys had recent surgeries and were healing with stitches; Luke in his groin and Bo in his ear. Both were supposed to be taking it easy, especially Luke….but a crisp morning and a toy was just too much to keep these two on the bench! Thankfully everyone was still good at the end and no stitches were popped! (plus they had a blast) :) The best was when I was leaving, Krisie and I were talking on the driveway and I looked back at the front door, there is Luke peaking through the glass door, just his eyes & the top of his head showing in the window. He clearly didn’t want his new friend to leave!
The sweetest pibble brothers!
