Rescue Story: We rescued Diesel from a previous co-worker of mine. She and her husband are in their 70’s and live in South Georgia. One day, during the wintertime, she went out to get her mail, and saw something white tied to her mail box. When she got closer, she realized it was a puppy and it was almost dead (malnourished and freezing). He had been abandoned. She carried him back to her house and nursed him back to health (unaware of how big he was going to get). When she realized how large he was (85lbs of muscle) and what breed he was, she called me. She knew I loved pit bulls and she told me she couldn’t lift him to get him to the vet or walk him and needed him to go to a new home where she knew he would be spoiled rotten.

Settling in to his new forever home!

What is your favorite pastime as a family? Diesel LOVES taking walks, napping, sunning himself in the backyard, and going on rides in the car.

What is life like since you rescued Diesel? Diesel has been the PERFECT family dog. Nothing really bothers him and he is so easy going. We joke and say that he has ruined all future dogs for us because of how easy going and relaxed he is. He’s the perfect cuddle buddy, and goofy as all get out.

Photographers Note: This big polar bear of a dog has to be one of the most relaxed dogs we have had as a volunteer. He is so cute & sweet, but even a new person at his house doesn’t get him too excited. Just looks at me, maybe a quick sniff and almost gives a nod, nice to meet ya…then goes on with the task at hand which was sunbathing. There was no running around to play ball, it took a lot of coaxing to just get him to move from spot to spot. Meanwhile his sister was making so much racket inside the house because she knew she was missing out on something. So happy this big boy found such a wonderful family after a very hard start to his young life.

Siblings!
