What makes Darla unique? She gives everyone bathes, dogs, humans, cats. She will bark at things she wants but can’t get. She knows several hand signals. She carries her food dish to what ever room she’s in.

Bath tongue!

Rescue Story: I wasn’t looking for a new dog. I was scrolling on the Deaf Dogs Rock FB page when I saw her face. It stated she was on limited time due to her behavior. Was rated no cats, and several other labels. So much of it reminded me of Brooke, my OG deaf dog’s FB post. I had that same gut feeling of “mine” when I read it. I messaged Scooby-Doo’s Rescue mission in NJ and said if someone could get her to GA I’d take her. She ended up hitching a ride with the puppy transporter from FL and life’s not been the same since.

Road Tripping to her forever home!

What is your favorite pastime as a family? Cuddling, sunbathing, jogging, playing tug, chase.

What is life like since you rescued Darla? It was trying at first, she did have more behavior issues than originally disclosed. But now she’s the extrovert in a house of introverts making us laugh every day at her antics.

Photographers Note: Darla is just such a pretty girl, with the best pittie smile. So many people would have seen that she was deaf and just passed her over, thinking it’s too much work. I love that Felicia & Keith have not only adopted one deaf pup but two. Really deaf dogs are not any different then hearing dogs; they get the zoomies, they look away when they don’t want to “listen” to what you are telling them (my dog does this all the time), they cuddle, and they give/receive all the love. So you need to teach yourself and them a different way to communicate then you might a hearing dog….all dogs need training! Give a deaf dog a chance!
